Eurasian Otter

Well adapted to aquatic life this otter has a waterproof coat, 4 webbed feet and a powerful tail to streamline and steer it in the water. Mostly active at twilight and in darkness, they survive mainly on fish and small rodents and birds. Numbers declined in Britain but are now on the increase due to protection and improvement in water quality. Although rarely spotted in Hampshire we know that they are now widespread and increasing in numbers.
